<p>DevOps has become possible largely due to a combination of new operations tools and established agile engineering practices [1] , but these are not enough to realize the benefits of DevOps. <b>Even with the best tools, DevOps is just another buzzword if you don't have the right culture</b>.</p>
<p>The primary characteristic of DevOps culture is <b>increased collaboration</b> between the roles of development and operations. There are some important cultural shifts, within teams and at an organizational level, that support this collaboration.</p>
<p>An attitude of <b>shared responsibility</b> is an aspect of DevOps culture that encourages closer collaboration. It?s easy for a development team to become disinterested in the operation and maintenance of a system if it is handed over to another team to look after. If a development team shares the responsibility of looking after a system over the course of its lifetime, they are able to share the operations staff?s pain and so identify ways to simplify deployment and maintenance (e.g. by automating deployments and improving logging). They may also gain additional ObservedRequirements from monitoring the system in production. When operations staff share responsibility of a system?s business goals, they are able to work more closely with developers to better understand the operational needs of a system and help meet these. In practice, collaboration often begins with an increased awareness from developers of operational concerns (such as deployment and monitoring) and the adoption of new automation tools and practices by operations staff.</p>
<p>Some organizational shifts are required to support a culture of shared responsibilities. There should be <b>no silos</b> between development and operations. Handover periods and documentation are a poor substitute for working together on a solution from the start. It is helpful to adjust resourcing structures to allow operations staff to get involved with teams early. Having the developers and operations staff co-located will help them to work together. Instead of requiring such a manual check, it is possible to rely on version control, which is fully auditable. Changes in version control can even be linked to tickets in the team's project management tool. Without the manual sign-off, the team can automate their deployments and speed up their testing cycle.</p>
<p>One effect of a shift towards DevOps culture is that it becomes easier to put new code in production. This necessitates some further cultural changes. In order to ensure that changes in production are sound, the team needs to value <b>building quality into the development process</b>. This includes cross-functional concerns such as performance and security. The techniques of ContinuousDelivery, including SelfTestingCode, form a basis which allows regular, low-risk deployments.</p>

It covers the entire application lifecycle, and enables DevOps capabilities. In this article I?m going to show you how to create a azure build/release pipeline with React.</p>

<p>Azure DevOps Server is a Microsoft product that provides version control, reporting, requirements management, project management, automated builds, lab management, testing and release management capabilities. It covers the entire application lifecycle, and enables DevOps capabilities. In this article I?m going to show you how to create a azure build/release pipeline with React.</p>

<li>Create New React App and move to the project directory</li>
</ol>
<p>2. Create a GitHub Repository and push your project to GitHub Repo</p>
<p>3. Go to Azure DevOps and click on new project button</p>

<p>Then fill the required details. I put azure-react-demo as the Project Name</p>

<p>Then click on the create button</p>
<p>4. Now click on Pipeline section</p>

<p>and click create pipeline button to create a new pipeline</p>
<p>5. After that, you should connect your repository to Azure DevOps so that choose GitHub because our code is on GitHub.</p>

<p>Then you choose your repository.</p>

<p>6. Then you have configured the pipeline. We have the react app so choose Node.JS with React</p>

<p>7. After that you have to configure the file which is written in YAML format</p>

<p>We need to do some modifications for the YAML file so the easiest way to do that click on show assistance</p>

<p>To keep our react app build files we need archive it so in assistance search archive and select Archive files</p>

<p>After that we need to publish the build artifact so again search publish artifact on assistance</p>

<p>Then click on save and run then you?ll get a below window in that you can select commit directly to the master on create a new branch for the this demo I?m not going to create a new branch so I choose option 1 then again click on save and run</p>

<p>Once that you?ll redirect to window like below.</p>

<p>In here click on the job to view the pipeline jobs</p>

<p>If we go back to build run we can see artifact published on artifact build</p>

<p>Then click on it now you can see our react app build artifact in the zip file</p>

<p>Okay now let?s create release pipeline for our react app in order to do that</p>
<p>8. Move to Release Pipeline under pipeline</p>

<p>and click on a new pipeline and in the template search box search azure and choose Azure App Service Deployment</p>

<p>Then put any name for the stage name. (I?ve put Test for this) and close it</p>

<p>Then we can choose artifact for the release pipeline so do that click on artifact section</p>

<p>Now click on Tasks Tab to configure App Service configurations</p>

<p>Then you need to choose your Azure Subscription and also your App Service name as well</p>

<p>Learn how you use Azure DevOps CLI to extract branch policies of each of the Azure DevOps repositories</p>
<p>Every time we create a repository on Azure DevOps, we can apply <strong><em>Branch Policies</em></strong> on these repositories. Over time and with the large number of repositories, it becomes increasingly difficult to verify that all these repositories have the same policies applied.</p>
<p>Thinking about it, I decided to create one script using Azure DevOps CLI that extract these information about each repository on our organization and I exposed them on PowerBI. To do this, I used again PowerShell to automate this procedure (see original GitHub repository here):</p>
<p>On this script, I?ve used commands bellow:</p>
<p><ol>
<li>PowerShell script will receive following parameters:</li>
</ol>

<li>$PAT = Personal Access token to connect on Azure DevOps;</li>
<li>$Organization = Organization URL to list all branches and policies.</li>

<p>Using a stacked column chart, I can identify which repositories have (or not) each of the policies listed above. Viewing the problem in a single repository, I can apply the missing policies, thus establishing the same validations for my entire organization.</p>

<h3>How are the plans licensed?</h3>
<p>Community Edition is free.</p>
<p>Commercial Editions (Developer, Enterprise and Data Center) are priced per instance per year and based on your lines of code (LOC). You pay per instance based on the maximum number of analyzed lines of code. An instance is an installation of SonarQube.</p>
<p>The max number of LOC on the edition of your choice determines your price.</p>
<h3>How are Lines of Code (LOC) counted?</h3>
<p>LOC are computed by summing up the LOC of each project analyzed. The LOC count for a project is the LOC count of the project's largest branch.</p>
<h3>What will happen if my instance is getting close to or reaches the LOCs limit?</h3>
<p>If you are getting close to the threshold, instance administrators are notified via email to either upgrade the plan or reduce the number of LOC in their projects. If you reach the limit, your SonarQube instance will stop processing new analysis requests. However, SonarQube will retain basic functionality such as saving configuration changes and allowing project browsing.</p>
